Thank goodness, it looks like more stores, national chains anyway, will be closed on Thanksgiving. What a concept. Retailers actually giving their employees Thanksgiving Day off to be with family and friends instead of having to "man the isles" and battle stampeding shoppers.

It seems like many national retailers have gotten the message that Thanksgiving should be a day with family, and if not family, friends. Happy employees means happy companies, meaning happy shoppers!

Oh, sure, Friday, officially Black Friday, has long been the biggest shopping day of the year. And, yes, it will probably be again this year, as all stores will be open then. But, you'll probably see fewer shoppers.

According to Market Watch, a new survey found that 52% of respondents said it's less likely that they will shop on Black Friday this year. 64% of those who said they won't be shopping, said it's because they didn't want to deal with the crowds. And 44% said it's because they can get discounts that are just as good on other days. Hmmm, what about you.
