Sign Language Santa in Grand Rapids on December 7
Signing Santa will be in Grand Rapids and he needs your help will gift donations for the kids.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services in Grand Rapids is putting on the event on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Crossroads Middle School in Grand Rapids from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This is the 10th year Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services has hosted a Signing Santa event.
Gifts will be available for the first 50 children, but your help is requested. Gift donations are needed. If you would like to donate please call 616-732-7358 for more details.
There will be other activities in addition to Signing Santa. There will be two signed story times (11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.), holiday crafts, snacks and drinks.
There will be sign language interpreters available throughout the venue including at the entrance, craft area, with Santa and during the story. This includes American Sign Language (ASL) to English and English to ASL interpreters.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services has been serving West Michigan since 1996. They fill thousands of interpreter assignments each year. They offer ASL classes, cultural awareness and sensitivity training, and other educational opportunities.
