Warning! Is Southeastern Michigan University Real or a Scam?

It seems some students are getting calls from Southeastern Michigan University offering scholarships. It seemed legit because the caller had personal information of the student.

So, if you want to got to college and your money is limited, a scholarship is really needed. You would probably jump at the chance, right?

This is a true SCAM! There isn't a Southeastern Michigan University and never has been as far as we can determine.

This all came to light with a Reddit.com/Michigan thread. The student was offered a 90% scholarship. WOW! But, stop right there. What about the other 10%? The pitch probably was send us the 10% and you're in. In a bind, that is, because SEMU doesn't exist! And, how scary that the caller even had some personal information.

Scams are a dime a dozen these days and growing all the time.

You remember the old saying, "if it seems too good to be true, it is too good to be true."

To be fair, there actually is a Southeastern University. It is not in Michigan, never has been. It is in Lakeland, Florida and a private Christ centered university, and a member of the SUN Conference in athletics.

Trust me, they are not calling you to offer a 90 percent scholarship if you will only send them an enrollment fee.
