Two of downtown Grand Rapids major events have announced they are teaming up to make a spectacular evening of holiday fun downtown!
Every year kids of all ages look forward to the annual Santa Claus Parade. With the fun floats, bigger than life balloons, bands and more, it's been an unofficial kick off of the Grand Rapids holiday season.

Later on, usually in December, would be the downtown Tree Lighting Ceremony at Rosa Parks Circle and the Grand Rapids Art Museum. That too is so family friendly with ice skaters performing on the ice rink, maybe choirs singing and finally the lighting of the massive tree.
This year it's going to be a little bit different and it promises to be loads of fun.
The City of Grand Rapids announced that the Gentex Grand Rapids Santa Parade and tree-lighting will happen as an all-in-one event on Saturday evening, December 7.
On the surface, this seems to be a great plan. There will be thousands of folks that watch the Santa Parade, and then they can just move over to Rosa Parks Circle and enjoy hot chocolate and other goodies and celebrate the lighting of Grand Rapids official Christmas tree.
The City of Grand Rapids said the 2024 Gentex Grand Rapids Santa Claus Parade kicks off at 5 p.m. Saturday, December 7, from the corner of Division N and Michigan Street NW and travels down Division N to Crescent Street NW to Ionia Avenue NW to Pearl Street NW to Ottawa Avenue NW to Louis Street NW which brings it to Rosa Parks Circle.
The Grand Rapids Jaycees have been in contact with the North Pole and the Parade will deliver Santa Claus to Rosa Park Circle for the City of Grand Rapids Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at approximately 6:45 p.m.
What fun, and, IT'S ALL FREE!
