Well it looks like Michigan State University now has a new president.

According to WOOD, Samuel Stanley Jr., MD has now been voted in by the Michigan State University Board of Trustees.

Stanley was previously president of Stony Brook University in New York. Stanley was president at SBU from 2009 until taking the MSU position. Stanley is also a medical doctor that specializes in infectious diseases.

Stanley made the announcement during a speech that he will live on campus to be visible in the Spartan community. He has already made a commitment to meet with survivors of Larry Nassar's sexual abuse.

Stanley will begin his role at MSU's 21st president August 1.
MSU has not had a president since January 24, 2018.
