Restaurant Week’s “Grand Cocktail Competition” Begins

The Grand Cocktail Competition kicked off summer in the city in Grand Rapids this past weekend. You can gather at some of the 29 restaurants, meet their bartenders and mixologists competing, and enjoy some creative cocktails throughout the month of July through August 4.

The most votes gathered online by August 4 will decide the “People’s Choice” Grand Cocktail Competition winners in both categories.

All 29 restaurants and cocktail recipes in the competition are featured on RestaurantWeekGR.com under “Cocktail Contest”. Cocktail lovers at the end of their tasting experiences can vote for one cocktail from each category – “Most Creative Julep” and “Most Creative Summer Cocktail” on the website by clicking on the Grand Cocktail icon.

During the month long competition the public can discuss the competition on Facebook and Twitter by using the hashtag #RWGR and cast their final votes for their favorites on RestaurantWeekGR.com/CocktailContest by August 4.

Winners of the “People’s Choice” 2015 competition will have the distinction of creating the most popular “Creative Julep” or “Creative Summer Cocktail”. The winners will also receive a $100 gift certificate to the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education’s restaurant at GRCC, The Heritage. The “People’s Choice” prize winners will be announced at an invitation-only judged competition at Gravity Restaurant on the evening of August 5, 2015.
