Restaurant Week Grand Rapids begins this Wednesday, August 15 and runs through Saturday, August 25.  It's a 10-day food fest and a wonderful opportunity to dine in many of Grand Rapids finest restaurants and experience some wonderful food.

You're never limited to just the Restaurant Week menu at the more than 60 participating.  You may order anything on their menu, but each restaurant has created several 3-course options at $25, or, in some cases, two for $25, especially for Restaurant Week Grand Rapids.

In order to have a little fun in kicking it off, there is an 'old fashioned pie eating contest' this morning at 10 a.m. at the Fulton Street Farmer's Market.

Everyone is welcome to come down and watch some of your favorite celebrities and local leaders bury their face in a blueberry pie to see who can eat it the fastest.  You had better plan on standing back just in cast there are blueberries flying around.

Restaurant Week supports Grand Rapids Community College's Secchia Institute for Culinary Education, with $1 dollar from each meal sold going toward the award-winning program.  To date, the event has raised nearly $40,000 in scholarship funds for the institute.
