At one time there were 24,000 of these big red machines across the country.

Redbox movie rental locations were everywhere and it was easy to rent a movie at Walmart, convenience stores, grocery stores, and drug stores, just by walking up the the big red machine, pick from their library, put your money or credit card in, and magically the movie would pop out. Walgreens Breton/44th, Walgreens on Kalamazoo and Fuller, Walgreens at 28 & Cascade Rd, Walgreens on Plainfield and the Beltline, CVS at Lake and Wealthy, Walgreens at Cottonwood and Baldwin in Jenison, Walgreens in Grand Haven, Allendale Family Fare, Dollar General on Remembrance, and more.

No one knows if any of these machines actually still work, but word is that some may, and if you want to drive around it's possible you could find a working one.

The question is since they are out of business, if you can get a movie, do you have to pay for or even return it? The answer there is most probably yes. You may not get billed now but you will later and I'm pretty sure they will want their movie back!
