It's going to be a long process of cleaning, repairing, and rebuilding following the tornado and storms that came through south of Grand Rapids on Sunday night.

On Wednesday, July 9, the American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids will help those affected by the storm by distributing free clean-up kits.

The American Red Cross of West Michigan will distribute the clean-up kits to members of the community whose homes were damaged during this week’s storms from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Red Cross volunteers will hand out clean-up kits at the Red Cross shelter at the Kentwood Activities Center, 355 48th St. SE.

Clean-up kits include mops, scrub brushes, shovels, and cleaning chemicals and other items that will help residents their homes upon return from a disaster. Tarps will also be available for residents who need to cover damaged portions of their homes. Individuals must provide a proof of residence (e.g. driver license, mail, or lease) in order to receive a clean-up kit and tarp.

Only families whose homes were damaged in the storm are eligible to receive clean-up kits.
