Recalled Cottage Cheese Could Contain Pieces of Plastic and Metal
9,500 cases of Breakstone's Cottage Cheese are being recalled after six reports of contamination.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has shared details of an FDA recall of cottage cheese.
Some packages of Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese are being recalled due to the discovery of pieces of red plastic and metal.
The problem was discovered when the company was notified by a consumer who found a piece of red plastic in a container of cottage cheese. There have been six consumer complaints and no reports of illness or injury related to this issue to date.
The recalled cottage cheese was sent to retailers and distributors in the U.S and exported to Latin America. It was produced and distributed by Kraft Heinz Foods Company.

- 24 ounce, Breakstone's 4% Milkfat Large Curd Cottage Cheese, best when used by Dec. 10, 2019, UPC 0 21000 12285 1
- 24 ounce, Breakstone's 4% Milkfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese, best when used by Dec. 10, 2019, UPC 0 21000 12284 4
