Picnic Pops Wraps Up Season in a Country Kind of Way
A great singer is nothing without a great song. For instance, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton respectively wrote I Walk the Line and Jolene, but without songwriters Dewayne Blackwell and Earl Bud Lee, Garth Brooks never would have sung Friends in Low Places. Or, what about Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood, or Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw. Without Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear or Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman, we wouldn't have heard these songs. Tonight at the Picnic Pops you'll hear those and more from the some of the writers themselves.
The very best singer/songwriters working in Nashville today join the Grand Rapids Symphony for Nashville: The Songwriters. Their Stories, to wrap up the final concert of the 2019 D&W Fresh Market Picnic Pops on Friday, Aug. 2, at Cannonsburg Ski Area.
Nashville’s Music City Hit Makers – Brett James, Hillary Lindsey and Rivers Rutherford – will be on stage to sing the songs and share the stories that made entertainers such as Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood famous.
The special-event show is one-night only tonight, Friday, August 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at Cannonsburg. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. for picnicking and preconcert entertainment.
You're going to have one heck of a great time!
