It's about to get more convenient to spend your money at Grand Rapids parking meters.

I guess that's good news?

The City of Grand Rapids is preparing to install new parking meters which will accept credit cards.

If the parking meters prove to be cost efficient, we can expect to see more of them around Grand Rapids.

WZZM13.com has more:

The Grand Rapids City Commission approved a plan Tuesday morning that would allow downtown visitors to pay for metered parking with their credit cards.

The plan only accounts for a 90-day trial period of 22, new, solar-powered parking meters on two blocks of Monroe Center, between Monroe Ave. and Ionia.

The meters will accept credit cards, debit cards and coins.
City leaders say this is a first step in making downtown parking stress-free.

The new meters will simply replace the old ones and the installation process should be finished in the next 10 days.

Hopefully these meters work out and we get more around town soon.
