We will find out tonight the direction new Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will take to solve the state's $1.8 billion dollar budget deficit, and for the first time since 2002, the feeling among "Michiganders" is the best its been in years. A poll released last night by the Detroit Free Press and four TV stations shows.

For the first time since 2002, nearly as many Michiganders say the state is headed in the right direction (39%) as on the wrong track (41%)

Fifty-nine percent of those surveyed said they held a favorable opinion of Snyder. That's higher than President Barack Obama at 51% now, and better than former Gov. Jennifer Granholm's sky-high approval during her first month in January 2003 -- 56%.  (Detroit Free Press)

Gov. Snyder and leaders of the Republican controlled State Senate and House have said they don't favor raising taxes to solve the state's budget woes. But 64 percent of those polled said they would support some sort of tax or fee  increase to help balance the state's budget.

Not being a political animal, I believe you wish the new guy well and hope for the best.  Michigan has taken "one too many punches in the gut" lately.  It's time to bounce back.-
