Operation Golf with Heroes at Railside Country Club Today

Railside Golf Club, a private golf club located in Byron Center, is hosting Operation Golf with Heroes, a military appreciation event designed to thank local military men and women for their service. The inaugural golf event, presented by Metro Health, is today, Monday, September 8. More than 100 military servicemen and women have already registered for the event.

How did this come about? “ Over the last few months, our staff has been discussing our role in the Greater Grand Rapids area and how we can work with our members and our neighbors to better our community,” shared Sam Stover, head golf professional at Railside Golf Club. “The result of those discussions and conversations is Operation Golf with Heroes, an event that will allow us to roll out the red carpet for our recently returned heroes and thank them for a job well done.”

Military personnel that participate in the outing will receive: 18 holes of complementary golf, food and beverage services, a commemorative golf bag, prizes, and more. The daylong event is made free for military participants, thanks to sponsorship by several businesses throughout West Michigan. These businesses will have the opportunity to play with - and caddy for - military members.

“It will be an honor to serve these individuals and thank them for their service,” continued Stover. “Their sacrifice is great and this outing is the very least we can do.”
