One Year After the Portland Tornado [Video]
On June 22, 2015, an EF-1 tornado struck Portland, Mich., damaging dozens of homes and businesses.
One year later, many have finished repairing the damage while some continue to rebuild.
It was only just a few weeks ago, exactly eleven months after the Portland tornado, when the First Congregational Church of Portland was able to reopen. It was one of four churches damaged by the tornado. Other churches damaged were able to reopen sooner.
The rebuilding process began immediately with volunteers working since the day the tornado struck. It has been a long and expensive process for many.
The video, shot across the street from Portland City Hall, shows just how fast a tornado can strike as a tree is quickly ripped from its roots.
