Excited! America’s Oldest Department Store is Coming Back to Michigan
The year was 1826 when Samuel Lord opened a small dry-goods store in New York city. A few years later, Samuel's wife's cousin, George Taylor joined the business, and the famed brand of Lord & Taylor was created.
After a long history of high-end fashion, Lord & Taylor sadly closed their brick and mortar stores in 2021 after suffering through several years of financial hardship.
It was a sad time for the millions of shoppers who depended on Lord & Taylor for their fashion, exceptional customer service and quality products.
Flash forward to 2025 and Lord & Taylor will be making a come back and come back to Michigan.
Don't count on a serious brick and mortar retail store just yet, however, they will be making a comeback online!
Fox Business.com reported that, first of all, the sweeping cursive logo is returning. Lord & Taylor's website states that it has been "a symbol of elegance and style since its inception."
The company is focusing on a sophisticated range of home goods, dresses and footwear. The new owners said that Lord & Taylor should be about fashion that is going to last.
Where does that leave Michigan?
Because of going online, shoppers across Michigan, and the United States for that matter, will be able to shop at Lord & Taylor soon.
Lord & Taylor’s website says the brand will continue to be an innovative retailer, focusing on unique products and new ways to shop according to the Fox Business.com story. Its licensed products will be available on its website and at select retailers globally, "along with exciting new brands."
Happy shopping!
