A home was burning in Kalkaska township when a couple ran back in to try and save their pets.

According to MLive, the fire happened on Thursday around 12:30 on Mitchel Road in Kalkaska Township.

The Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office say that Brian and Sheryl Curry, who are both 56,  contacted them about the fire but when police arrived the couple had went back into the home to try and save their pets.

When the fire department responded, firefighters immediately went in the home to try and get the Curry's back out of the home but the fire had expanded and it was too dangerous for them to enter the home.

Brian and Sheryl Curry were both found dead in the home. Firefighters are still investigation the cause of the fire.

The Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office were helped by the Michigan State Police, Kalkaska Township Fire Department, Clearwater Township Fire Department, Garfield Township Fire Department, Kalkaska EMS and Frederick EMS.
