Generation Y couldn't be any different than their parents generation!  I see it in my nephew.  They don't want those huge McMansions they're parents lived to obtain.   They want" Urban Living" in renovated buildings.  There is no yearning for big formal living rooms and jacuzzi's.  In fact, they don't even want to have to depend on a car.  They like to be able to walk to wherever they need to go.

You see it happening in downtown Grand Rapids!  So many of those old warehouse buildings being turned into a beautiful place to live.  Buildings and rooms that ooze with warmth, originality and character.  Beautiful exposed brick walls, exposed wood ceiling beams, lots of open space, original refinished wood floors, and lots of window, are the standard.  There are open rooftops for sunbathing or dancing beneath the moonlight and the stars.  All within walking distance of work, the nightlife, friends and whatever else enhances their life.

Generation Y learned something from their parents.  More is not always better...and the same is not always best...
