If Michigan Legislators have their way, the legal limit for drunk driving might soon go from 0.08 to 0.05% making us the second state in the US to lower drunken-driving limits.

Detroit Free Press reports the newly proposed Michigan House Bill, which is supported by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, would “lower the drunken-driving limit to a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.05 percent”.

MAAD is a big advocate for doing this nationwide, as one of their main points is “critical driving skills are impaired at a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.05.”, as Detroit Free Press reports.

The new Bill was introduced by Democratic Rep. Abdullah Hammoud of Dearborn, who according to Detroit Free Press believes we need to do more to fix an “avoidable epidemic” of drunk driving.

Utah was the first state to lower their BAC level to .05% and that into effect December 2018.
