The NCAA didn't want Grand Rapids to host part of March Madness, the ultimate in basketball, but what do they know.  The VanAndel would have been the perfect choice.

Okay, enough sour-grapes.  They do love us for hockey.

The NCAA announced that Grand Rapids will officially be the host city for the 2013 Division I Men’s Ice Hockey West Regional.

So, start lining up because you can buy passes now for this great event which will be held at Van Andel Arena on March 29-30.

Prices for two-day passes are $60 prior to December 31st and $65 starting on 1st the new year. Single day passes are not currently available. Passes can be purchased at the Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place box offices, Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 800-745-3000.

Groups of 10 or more receive $5 off each two-day pass. For group tickets, call 616-742-6185, e-mail groupsales@smggr.com or order on-line at vanandelarena.com/groupsales.

The University of Michigan will play host to this site. However, this does not guarantee that Michigan will be selected to compete at the West Regional in Grand Rapids.

The winner of the West Regional bracket will advance to the 2013 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four at Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on April 11 & 13.
