Muskegon Police began issuing tickets to vehicles violating the winter parking ban Thursday night.

Police were already issuing red warning tags, but as of Thursday tickets will be issued for any car parked on a city street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

The ban, which went into effect back in mid-December, was implemented in order to allow more rooms for snow plows.

Vehicles will be allowed to park on a property's "terrace" (which is described as the space between the street and the sidewalk).
