The National Guard 127th Wing did a series of multi-city military flyovers to show appreciation to the thousands of Michigan heroes who are at the front line battling COVID-19 and providing the vital support that Michiganders need.

The flyover happened on Tuesday, May 12th, 2020 and the planes flew right over downtown Grand Rapids!

The planes first flew over the Veteran's Home on the north side of Grand Rapids and then flew south to the Metro Health hospital south of the city.

If you were looking up in the beautiful blue sky at about 3:10 pm, perhaps you saw the planes as well. A lot of people said they heard the planes, but didn't see them.

According to the Michigan Air National Guard, the planes were four A-10 'Warthogs".

Thanks to listeners Betsy, Chuck Foehr, and Gina Woloszyk who sent me their videos of the flyover...

After flying over Grand Rapids, the flyover continued on to Battle Creek and then back to Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, just northeast of Detroit.
