Michigan Women’s Foundation is having their most important fundraiser, “Lights! Camera! Action!” in the main ballroom at Grand Rapid’s JW Marriott next Thursday, April 19.

With more than 800 guests expected to attend, the annual event celebrates the foundation's mission to accelerate Michigan’s progress by advancing equality and opportunity for its women and girls.

This years Grand Rapids luncheon is honoring Stacie Behler, group vice president of public affairs and communications, Meijer with the group’s highest recognition, the Woman of Courage and Achievement award. The luncheon, chaired by Meg Goebel, president and CEO, Paul Goebel Group, and Kathleen Vogelsang, chief investment officer, Van Andel Institute, begins at 11:30 a.m.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Michigan Women's Foundation, the back-story is that in 1986, an organization was formed specifically to encourage women to play an active role in philanthropy and governance. Today, MWF is seeing the "fruits of their labors," as they are achieving success Accelerating Women’s Entrepreneurship, Developing the Next Generation of Young Women Leaders and Leading the State’s Women’s Agenda, which includes its Enough SAID campaign to end the backlog of untested rape kits in Detroit.
