Michigan Virtual Boat Show

How much fun is it to visit a boat show and dream about a boat. If you already have a boat you dream of a bigger boat and one that has more creature comforts. More seating, BBQ Grill on board, bigger motor so it goes faster, and one with a better stereo. The sound systems on today's new boat is so load we'll hear way off shore in the lake.

So I was lucky enough to attend a boat show and here are a few things that caught my eye. Yes, like you I dream about a new boat everyday. Looking at new boats on-line is daily occurrence.

First up was the CAMPION Explorer 21 with Evinrude Etec motor that claims less maintenance than comparable 4 stroke motors. Yes it Campion (not Champion) and they are made in Vancouver, BC. So you know this boat can handle any weather you may encounter on Lake Michigan. And I went down to the Cuddy Cabin and guess what I fit - so there's room for someone who's 6 feet tall.While the model is called the Explorer 21 the overall length is 23.6 feet with an 8 foot beam. I was really impressed with this model for a 21 footer. Lots of room to fish or entertain. MSRP at boat show was $73,642, and it had a show special price around $67,000.

CLEARWATER 2200 CC: Really was impressed on how much boat you get for MSRP of $44,890 with a Suzuki 150 HP that included a 6 year factory warranty. Show price was even better at $39,790. Boat rated up to 225 HP. And impressive if you also want to fish the shallows it has a draft of only 15" This may have been the best bang for your buck at the boat show.

GRADY-WHITE Fisherman 236: Known for their bigger saltwater boats all the way to their Canyon 456, this model came out a few years ago and fits in the slot between the Fisherman 257 and the smaller 216. While it's called the Fisherman with lots of room for your gear and tackle storage including oversized fish boxes for catching big Coho, Chinook Salmon or Lake Trout. After fishing your family will enjoy the swim platforms off the back. Bow seating options include center-piece that turns into a great place to layout in the sun. Rated for maximum HP of 300 horsepower with 115 gallon tank. That gives you range big enough to cross the lake on a calm day.
