In light of the Florida high school shooting that left 17 people dead, a middle school in Michigan is implementing a new policy to keep kids safe.

The Detroit Free Press reports that beginning February 26th a "no bag" policy will go into effect at Ionia Middle School. Students must keep their backpacks in their lockers and keep them there all day. This means they can't carry them in the hallways or bring them into any of the classrooms throughout the school day. The rule also applies to purses.

A letter from the principal was sent home to parents (and also posted to Facebook) regarding this decision.

What do you think about this? Should more schools follow suit?
