Enjoy summer in Michigan with free fishing on June 13 and 14!

The Michigan DNR says Michigan residents and nonresidents may fish without a license during Free Fishing Weekend. All ages are welcome. Other fishing regulations still apply.

Michigan has celebrated the Summer Free Fishing Weekend annually since 1986.

Michigan is an excellent place to fish. Michigan features more than 3,000 miles of shoreline on the Great Lakes, 11,000 inland lakes, and tens of thousands of miles of rivers and streams.

"Michigan offers some of the finest freshwater fishing available anywhere in the world, and the Summer Free Fishing Weekend is an excellent time to hit the water," said DNR Director Keith Creagh. "Aside from being one of our state's most time-honored traditions, fishing also is an inexpensive and easily accessible outdoor activity for people of all ages."
