It's true, Matthew Stafford of the Lions goes to the #Rams for 2 1st rounders and a 3rd rounder, along with Rams quarterback Jared Goff. What, they just exchanged quarterbacks? Yep!

I wrote last week that the Lion's Matthew Stafford wanted a fresh start and had requested and trade. You knew something would happen pretty soon, but WOW, no one saw this one coming.

For sure, this is a blockbuster trade. CBS Sports said that it didn't take long for first-year Lions general manager Brad Holmes to make a big splash. Holmes came to Detroit from Los Angeles where he was the director of college scouting with the Rams from 2013-2020 -- so it's safe to say he has an excellent idea about what the Lions will be getting in return with Goff as their new quarterback. In addition, the two premium draft picks and the extra third-rounder will allow Detroit to rebuild their roster via the draft -- no more patchwork rebuilds. Golly, what will that be like. Like, maybe build a real team?

ESPN Sports says Stafford is No. 4 all time in passing yards per game (273.4), behind Patrick MahomesDrew Brees and Andrew Luck. He also is second all time behind Luck in attempts per game (37.7) and is fourth in completions per game (23.6), behind Brees, Mahomes and Matt Ryan.

In Goff, the Lions get a quarterback who led the Rams to Super Bowl LIII, turned 26 in October, and leaves L.A. after five seasons, with a 42-27 record. Goff flourished in L.A. for awhile, winning back-to-back division titles and an NFC championship.

So, what do you think? Will it be same old, same old, or are the Lions actually turning a corner toward success. One can only hope.....again.
