LaughFest Recruiting Talent for Free Showcases Next Year
Gilda’s LaughFest, the nation’s only community-wide festival of laughter, is recruiting talent to participate in free community showcases during LaughFest 2014. Individuals of all ages, and groups of any size, are encouraged to showcase their talents during Gilda’s LaughFest. Applications are being accepted online through December 1 at www.laughfestgr.org.
Participation in the community showcases has been phenomenal with performers coming from more than 20 states. The showcases allow everybody a chance to show off their seriously funny talent.
During LaughFest 2014, officials expect to host more than 100 community showcases and other free events at various locations in downtown Grand Rapids, Lowell and Holland. The categories for these showcases include stand-up comedy, music, short-film, sketch/improv, dance and kids’ jokes. Plans this year include hosting a festival favorite, Kids Joke Night, in Holland, Lowell and Grand Rapids. These non-ticketed events will be free of charge and will be held at various times throughout the 10 days of LaughFest, March 6 – 16, 2014.
Those interested in showcasing their talents during the festival of laughter may sign up at www.laughfestgr.org under the About section or call (616)735-HAHA (4242). Applicants will be notified in early February.
