Lana Rae Meisner, the wife of Eagles co-founder and former member Randy Meisner, was found shot dead on Sunday (March 6) at the couple's home in Studio City, Calif. Her death, at the age of 63, has been ruled an accident.

According to TMZ, Lana Rae Meisner called 911 on Sunday afternoon to report domestic violence at her home and said that her husband was was "acting erratically" and waving a BB gun. At 6:59PM, an hour and a half after Lana Rae Mesiner's call, Randy Meisner reported that his wife went into another room, and after she closed the door, he heard a gunshot. Meisner says that he discovered his wife in the room, dead, with a gunshot to her head.

Radar Online reports that Randy Meisner “seemed to be in shock and wasn’t even able to acknowledge that Lana Rae was dead from a gunshot wound.” Early on Monday morning (March 7), per TMZ, Randy Meisner was taken to the hospital because he was "acting in an altered state." He has since been cleared in his wife's death, after LAPD detectives concluded that she accidentally shot herself. According to TMZ, Lana Rae Meisner was "moving a rifle that was stored inside the closet" when it accidentally went off. Based on the trajectory of the bullet, cops concluded that Randy Meisner was not involved.

The deadly incident was not the Meisners' first domestic dispute. In July, Randy Meisner's children tried to gain conservatorship, alleging mental instability.

Randy Meisner helped co-found the Eagles and is best known for co-writing "Take It to the Limit" with Don Henley and Glenn Frey. The song, released in November of 1975, hit No. 4 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. He quit the band in 1977.
