Today Google recognizes Alexander Calder!  I never heard much about Alexander Calder until I moved to Grand Rapids.  Shortly after, the radio station was a part of Festival Of The Arts.  Where?  Calder Plaza.  Alexander Calder studied the some of the building and archetecture that were adjacent to the site. He designed a sculpture that became one of the landmarks that makes Grand Rapids special.   That work, La Grande Vitesse, was dedicated to the City of Grand Rapids on June 14, 1969.  La Grande Vitesse translates into the great swiftness or the grand rapids.
