Kids' Food Basket has plans to expand to Holland to help defeat childhood hunger.

Kids' Food Basket was founded in Grand Rapids in 2002. They opened their first satellite location in Muskegon in 2012. Now, they are planning to open another location in Holland.

A $75,000 grant from the Holland/Zeeland Community Foundation has helped to make the opening possible. Kids' Food Basket will receive $35,000 this year as part of a 3-year $75,000 grant.

Kids' Food Basket plans to open the site with the help of approximately 40 daily volunteers. Service is being planned for approximately 600 children between one West Ottawa and one Holland Public elementary school.

Kids will receive a Sack Supper each weekday during the school year. Kids' Food Basket will also work to provide suppers through summer school.

By spring of 2015, Kids' Food Basket hopes to finish securing three years of sustainable funding for the new site, find a location for administrative needs and hire a manager for the Holland location.
