The 80s Will Explode at DeVos Performance Hall

It's been 50-years since KC and the Sunshine Band formed, and they have been rolling along ever since. Now, they will roll into DeVos Performance Hall soon!

Harry Wayne Casey, KC for short, put together a new kind of music, R&B and funk, with a touch of a Latin percussion groove, and hits like “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s The Way (I Like It)”, and “Shake Your Booty,” were born.

It was a pretty good birth because after over 100 million sold records, nine Grammy nominations and three Grammy Awards, KC and the Sunshine Band are still glowing.

You might think that KC would say time to get a little R&R, and retire. Not on your life. Today, KC and the Sunshine Band play over 100 live shows a year, circling the country and playing dates regularly throughout Europe, Australia and South America. I'm tired just thinking about all of that.

But that's not all. His songs have appeared in ads for companies like General Motors, Burger King, Payless Shoes, Papa John's Pizza, Old Navy and Nick at Nite.

Don't forget all the other commercials and movies his music has been in.  His music has  been featured in over 200 commercials and movies such as Forrest Gump (“Get Down Tonight”), Boogie Nights (“Boogie Shoes”), Boys Don’t Cry (“Rock Your Baby”), Rush Hour (“Get Down Tonight”), Carlito’s Way (“Rock Your Baby,” “Shake Your Booty” and “That’s The Way I Like It”) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (“Shake Your Booty”).

KC and the Sunshine Band will be at DeVos Performance Hall on Sunday, September 27, and tickets are going on sale this Friday, July 17 at 10 a.m.
