Do You Agree With This Comedian’s Roast of Grand Rapids?
I know we make fun of our city all of the time.
But when it comes to other people making fun of it, that's where we draw the line.
However, this comedian may be on to something.
Esteban Touma had a comedy show at Dr. Grins where he definitely did not lie with his thoughts of Grand Rapids.
Before he came to the city for the first time, he mentioned how he was super excited to visit.
Once he got here, all of his excitement definitely changed.
This is not that grand. You know what I mean?
He even mentioned how was excited to see the rapids, but quickly was told that they were dammed.
As he continues in the video, he mentions how the city of Grand Rapids is so literal with other things, such as the Blue Bridge.
That same time I came, I'm like, 'Oh, this is a pretty cool blue bridge! What's the name of this blue bridge?' 'Oh, this is the Blue Bridge.'
Then Esteban mentions one of the streets that visited while in the city. From his reaction, you will understand what street he was on.
I go to a street like, 'Oh look at the bricks and the wealthy houses, and the wealthy businesses!' 'This Is Wealthy Street.
He even went as far as mentioning all of the divisions on Division Street.
At the end of the video, he gives his opinion on what Grand Rapids should be called.
That's what's weird about Grand Rapids that it's named Grand Rapids. I think this city should be named like Two Tall Buildings and a River.
While I want to defend the city, you really can't.
Do you agree with Esteban Touma's critiques?
