Spoiler Alert:  Miller got the job!

Broken Down on I-69

Alan Miller's car broke down along I-69 as he was on his way to a job interview at BSI Paving in Metamora.

"I'm trying to support my family, and this is a good opportunity to do so," Miller tells CBS-Detroit.

Not only did Miller's car break down, but it also caught on fire. He phoned his contact at BSI Paving to let him know he'd be late, bt Miller was afraid his chances at the job had just gone up in smoke.

Michigan State Police trooper Jacob Genslau responded to the car fire call along I-69. He was the first on the scene.

"I'm in my head, like, 'They are not going to believe me. This sounds stupid. I am not going to get this job,'" Miller said.

The Unexpected Happened

Miller told Trooper Genslau about the predicament when he arrived. He tells the TV station that he was surprised when Genslau told him, "Hop in, I'll give you a ride."

Genslau says he was just trying to help.

"Just hearing his story, it just seemed like he was a really good individual looking for an opportunity. To be able to assist in providing it, it made me feel good," Genslau said.
