Walmart’s Latest Recall Surprises Michigan Shoppers

As you're getting ready to season patties, fire up the grill, and break out your finest plastic silverware and paper plates for a weekend of BBQs and family, you'll want to check out the latest Walmart recall to impact Michigan and then check your cabinets because chances are this item is on your menu.

This isn't just a Michigan Walmart thing either. This recall has been issued nationwide and impacts nearly half the country (23 states).

Undeclared Ingredients Prompt Nationwide Walmart Recall

Vietti Food Group, based in Nashville, Tennessee, announced via press release on Friday, May 2, 2025, that it would be recalling 4,515 cases of its Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans. I'm not sure about you, but recalled baked beans and cookouts make me a bit nervous.

However, the nerves may be merited if you have a soy allergy. The Vietti Food Group recall revolves around undeclared soy and had this to say in the company announcement:

Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product

The recall impacts Michigan, as well as Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia (so if you did any shopping recently in those states, check your cans!).

Identifying Recalled Baked Beans

The recalled 15-ounce cans of Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans have "Best if Used By Feb 17, 2028" printed on the bottom. To get a refund, take the can to the place where you bought it.
