Although most Michigan football fans likely expected the Detroit Lions to reach their first Super Bowl this season, that was not the result of the 2024 NFL campaign. Instead, America will watch a rematch of Super Bowl LVII as the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

In that game, two players who were born in the state of Michigan will take the field: Brandon Graham of the Eagles and Mike Danna of the Chiefs. Both pass rushers are former champions looking to add another championship ring, and performance, to their collection.

Danna is a fifth-year player born in Detroit who played college ball at Central Michigan and Michigan. This will be Danna's fourth appearance in the Super Bowl with Kansas City and while he has 20.5 career sacks, he's yet to record one in the Big Game.

Graham is one of the greatest Michigan-born players in NFL history and his performance in Super Bowl LII is noted in the list below. Still, the Eagles were unsuccessful two years ago in this spot against Kansas City and Graham's career is coming to a close. A second championship might just see him off into the sunset.

Graham is no exception, though. Michigan-born players have been rather successful in the Super Bowl when given the opportunity.

Of course, the effort to count the number of players born in the state that have played in the Big Game is a monumental task that I can't undertake for one sentence in this article. But, the number is likely pretty big. After all, over 800 players born in the Mitten State have reached the NFL. Surely a significant portion of them have reached the Super Bowl.

Regardless, there have been a handful of players born in the state to shine on the biggest stage in sports, helping to spurn their team to victory.

Now, to be clear, we are only pointing out Michigan-born players. Players who played collegiately for the Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans or any other program in the state but were not born here will not be highlighted.

Sorry Tom Brady, Desmond Howard and Skyy Moore fans.

Because of that, no Michigan-born player has ever won Super Bowl MVP to date.

Neither has a Michigan-born quarterback started, finished and won a Super Bowl. Fun fact, though, Super Bowl V between the Baltimore Colts and Dallas Cowboys did have two Michigan-born quarterbacks take snaps. Craig Morton was the starter for the Cowboys while Earl Morrall attempted more passes than Johnny Unitas for the Colts. Morrall wasn't the starter though, and Morton lost the game with a poor statline to boot, so the fact remains.

Below is a list of the players born in Michigan, whose performances helped give their teams the extra boost to lift the Lombardi Trophy and win the Super Bowl.
