Steelcase to be Acquired by Rival HNI in Multi-Billion Dollar Deal
A West Michigan company that has been around since the early 1900s has just announced that they are being sold to their competitor for $ 2.2 Billion.

Steelcase, which was founded in 1912 by Peter M. Wege, had a unique idea of making steel office furniture in Grand Rapids, a city already known worldwide for its wooden furniture.
That idea took off and since then, Steelcase has grown into a major company, with over 11,000 employees, around 3,500 of them live and work right here in West Michigan.
But if things go as planned by the end of 2025, they will be acquired by their direct rival HNI bringing two major office furniture companies together.
Wood TV 8 reported that in a letter sent to Steelcase employees leadership believed that this strengthen the companies position to succeed, saying:
“Together with HNI, we will be positioned to accelerate and increase investments in digital transformation and customer-centric buying experiences. I’m excited to see the enhanced capabilities the combined teams will deliver for our customers and dealers, advancing the industry through innovation.”

Is Steelcase Leaving Grand Rapids
In the letter shared with Steelcase employees leadership said that Steelcase will maintain their headquarters here in Grand Rapids, while Muscatine, Iowa will serve as HNI’s corporate headquarters.
One of the big questions that wasn't mentioned in the letter is will people be losing their jobs after this acquisition.
I hope all 3,500 or so jobs in West Michigan are safe and still around after the new year.
