This Valentine’s Day Lego Set Was Designed by a Michigan Creator
I did not expect to feel personally invested in a Valentine’s Day Lego set this year. And yet, here we are.
As a mom of a toddler boy, there are Legos everywhere in my house. In bins, under the couch, and somehow even in my purse. (And, I step on at least one a day.) My husband and I also love to build them together as a fun date night, which made me so happy to hear about a set perfect for couples like us, designed by a Michigan man.
Micah Longden of Charlotte is the creator behind the new Lego Love Birds set, and yes, it is as sweet as it sounds. The 750 piece set features two pink lovebirds sitting in a tree. When you finish building it, their bodies connect to form a heart.
How cute is that?
Micah’s design was selected as part of Lego’s Build From Your Heart Challenge where Lego fans voted on submissions, and his design came out on top, earning the chance to become an official commercial set.
In an interview, Micah shared that he started building with Lego when he was just 6 years old. Since then, he has built dozens of sets and eventually began creating his own designs using the bricks he collected over the years. And now one of those designs is something people can actually buy.
As someone who currently lives in a house that looks like a Lego storage facility exploded, I love this. And it feels like a reminder that the toys scattered across our living room floors can turn into something bigger.
The Love Birds set is on store shelves now, just in time for Valentine’s Day. And whether you are buying it for a partner, a Lego lover, or honestly just yourself, there is something really special about knowing it was designed right here in Michigan.
