What are ‘Loose Bodies’? The Injury Sidelining Tigers Star Tarik Skubal

If you're like me and have never heard of 'loose bodies', they can occur in different joints, such as the knee or, in this case, the elbow.
Loose bodies are small fragments of bone or cartilage that break off and float inside the joint, often causing pain, swelling, and locking or catching sensations.
They are typically caused by arthritis, trauma (fractures), or repetitive stress from sports or heavy manual work, with the fragments sometimes requiring surgical removal to restore motion.
Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch spoke to the media at a press conference earlier today and provided an update on Skubal.

A date for the surgery has not been announced, but the recovery time is expected to take at least 2-3 months.
I hope that the surgeon is able to go in and remove all of the loose bodies in the elbow so that Skubal can make a full recovery and be back in a Tigers uniform soon.
