Those strong winds have come and gone and left thousands of people without power and crews working overtime to fix the downed power lines.

When Power Is Expected To Return

Looking at the Consumer Energy outage map most of the current estimate times are for the early morning hours of Saturday, April 13th between 3:30 am and 8:30 am.

Avoid Down Power Lines

It's important to stay away from any downed power line.

Downed power lines can be extremely dangerous and can cause serious injury or even death. Even if a power line is not sparking or humming, it may still be energized and capable of delivering a lethal electric shock.

The ground around a downed power line can also be energized, creating a dangerous "step voltage" hazard up to 35 feet away.

If your vehicle comes into contact with a downed power line, the safest action is to remain inside the vehicle and call for help. Exiting the vehicle risks making contact with the energized ground
