Where to Watch the Stranger Things Final Episode in Grand Rapids
If you’re a Stranger Things fan, get ready to say goodbye in a way that feels kind of perfect for a show that’s always thrived on shared chaos, emotional trauma, and big-screen energy.
Netflix just announced that the two-hour series finale of Season 5 isn’t just dropping on your couch. Nope. It’s headed to actual movie theaters across the U.S. and Canada… at the exact same time it begins streaming.
It’s an unusual move for Netflix, but a show like Stranger Things deserves a theatrical sendoff.
Limited screenings of Stranger Things 5: The Finale kick off Wednesday, December 31st at 5 pm Pacific (or 8pm Michigan time) and they’ll only run for two days on December 31st and Janurary 1st. That’s it. Fans will have two nights to experience Hawkins on a massive screen, surrounded by other people who also haven’t emotionally recovered from Season 4.
The finale itself is feature-length episode, and it’s wrapping up what’s been a very staggered holiday rollout. Volume 1 (Episodes 1–4) dropped on November 26th, and Volume 2 (Episodes 5–7) arrives Christmas Day. Then the grand finale lands on New Years Eve.
But here in West Michigan, you have ONE CHANCE to be a part of the big event with others.
West Michigan Stranger Things fans can catch the finale at Celebration North with one showing at 8pm, and if you’re up for a little road trip, Celebration Cinema in Lansing is running it too.)
Just a heads up: tickets went on sale today, and because the screenings are so limited, they’re expected to go fast. (The website also says you'll have to pick them up in person- so stop by ASAP!)
Whether you watch it curled up on your couch in your comfiest socks or sitting in a packed theater full of people whispering “WHAT JUST HAPPENED?” right alongside you, this really does feel like the end of an era. One last trip to Hawkins. One last showdown. One last chance to argue about fan theories with your friends before we all pretend we’re okay.
Personally? There’s something kind of magical about ringing in the new year by closing the door on one of the biggest shows of the streaming era. However you choose to watch, just be prepared: Netflix is aiming for a communal heart-punch, and we all know the Duffer Brothers are the masters of ripping our hearts out.
