Michigan is known for our many lakes, and not just the Great Lakes that we share our state coast with.

In fact, Michigan has over 11,000 lakes that you can visit, making most of our towns somewhat 'Lake Towns' to anyone who is visiting from outside the state.

But if you wanted to have the ultimate lake town experience, where would you go? No matter who you ask, everyone has a different opinion.

However, according to Love Travel, this is the lake town they say is the most charming and visitor-friendly in the Mitten State, and they've got a pretty good point...

Holland has been named Michigan's most charming lakeside town

Everyone remembers Holland for their tulips, but they forget that they're also one of the most adorably scenic towns right off of Lake Michigan.

Their post about Holland gives a pretty good reason why they were picked as one to visit:

Its strong Dutch heritage is hard to miss, with brightly colored windmills dotted among tulips – around six million flowers – and cobbled streets with shops selling traditional gifts and garb. The best bit? It’s all by the shores of two lakes, Michigan and Macatawa, with beautiful sandy beaches and a brick-red lighthouse to boot.

And Holland really does have a ton to offer year-round. Not only do they have Tulip Time, but they also have an extremely walkable and visitor-friendly downtown area.

And in the winter, they're one of the only cities in America with heated sidewalks, making it easy to enjoy everything they have to offer, even when it's too cold to dip your toes in the water.

I totally get why Holland was their pick, but that doesn't mean it's the only lakeside town worth visiting. But, when your friends say they want to visit, this might be the go-to place to send them if they truly want that Pure Michigan experience.
