Now Open: Check Out Michigan’s First Raising Cane’s Location
We all have our favorite fast food spots, and I'm no exception to the rule. I'd like to pretend I'm too cool to take the nickname that has been given fans of the world's greatest fast food chicken chain, Raising Cane's. But I'm here to admit it, I'm a Caneiac.
The chain was founded by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey as a part of a college project that became real life. Their simple chicken-only, never-changes menu and college-aged staffing is their secret to success.
Sure, you can get chicken tenders and sandwiches at countless other restaurants around Michigan. None of those restaurants however can claim to have the greatest sauce known to mankind: Raising Cane's signature sauce.
I don't know what this addicting substance is made of, but it can cause even the most composed and rational human to start licking the bottom of the container to get every last drop.
So, the second I heard that East Lansing was getting Michigan's very first Raising Cane's location, I dedicated myself to making sure I was there on opening day to get my fix.
400 waited in line at the opening today at 11a.m., but I only waited about 20 minutes total to get my order in.
Located just next to Michigan State's campus, this college-focused franchise location is perfectly placed for students and locals alike. (Or, if you're just an insane person from Grand Rapids willing to make a two-hour round trip to have your favorite sauce, like me.)
Their menu is just like every other location: just chicken. It's simple, do you want a three or four-piece box, or a sandwich? Or get a party platter if you have people you love enough to spoil.
And you can't forget the sweet tea and lemonade, which are the other best part of this southern chain's menu.
Was it worth the trip?
Absolutely. Without hesitation. I'll probably go back next week.
