Michigan Residents Will Need To Show Bank Statements To Visit This Country

Soon travelers from the United States, including those from the state of Michigan, will be required to provide their bank statements when applying for a visa to visit Brazil.

This new policy, implemented by the Brazilian government, aims to ensure the financial stability and intent of visit for prospective travelers.

Under the new regulations, Michigan residents planning a trip to Brazil will need to submit their last three bank account statements or six recent pay stubs as part of the visa application process.

This requirement is intended to demonstrate that the traveler has sufficient funds to cover the expenses of their stay in Brazil.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum financial threshold of $2,000 will need to obtain a sponsor, typically a friend or family member, who can provide an affidavit of support.

In addition to the bank statements, Michigan travelers will also need to provide a valid passport, a letter of intent outlining the purpose and duration of their trip, proof of lodging arrangements, and a $80.90 visa fee.

The visa, once approved, will be valid for 10 years, allowing for up to 90-day visits per year.

This new policy aligns with Brazil's efforts to enhance tourism security and manage the economic profile of visitors entering the country.

Travel experts and industry analysts have expressed concerns that the bank statement requirement could lead to a decrease in spontaneous travel and affect the number of young travelers, who may not meet the financial criteria.

The new policy will go into effect April 10th, 2025
