Michigan City Named One Of The Most Affordable For Homeowners
Buying a home is one of those quintessential rights of passage in America. We all want to own a place of our own, because it feels more like home when you don't have to ask for permission to paint the walls or make repairs.
Some housing markets in Michigan, like Grand Rapids, are sitting at all time high prices thanks to the current housing boom, which may make that goal feel further than ever to obtain.
Thankfully, there are a few places in Michigan that are still incredibly affordable if you're looking to buy and don't mind to move.
According to the experts at Wallethub, one city in Michigan has been named one of the most affordable to become a homeowner in America.
If you've got your eye on Flint, Michigan, now is a great time to buy.
In fact, Flint has the lowest home price as a share of income, 108.16 percent, which is 13.7 times lower than in Santa Monica, California, the city with the highest at 1,486.77 percent.
That means, what you're likely to make while living there, will buy you more home than most cities in America.
Meanwhile nearby cities of Dearborn, Livonia and Detroit also have some incredibly affordable homes, they just may not have as many high paying jobs available to make it worth your move, or to make it as affordable.
But the least affordable city in Michigan when it comes to trying to find a home? Grand Rapids. But, it's not the hardest to find a home, that title goes to Warren. They have the lowest amount of time a home spends on the market of any city in the country.
Good luck if you're planning to buy a home here in Michigan, because you have some of the best (and most difficult) options in the country.
