The Detroit Red Wings worked with Fanatics to come up with a special jersey design that honors the team's history.
The jersey respects the classic Red Wings look, and it features many details that pay homage to the team's past, including:
A "chain-stitched" Winged Wheel design from 1932 to 1948.
An Olde English "D" from the original 1926 Detroit Cougars.
Numbers with a font inspired by the 1927-1928 Cougars' uniforms.
Striping that matches the Detroit Falcons uniforms from 1930 to 1932.
Faux-leather patches for captains and alternate captains, similar to those from the 1950s.

The jersey also features a centennial logo on the shoulder, a "reimagined" Hockeytown logo inside the collar, and the years of the team's 11 Stanley Cup wins on the inside hem.
Even the team's sponsor, Meijer, will use a vintage logo from 1957 to 1966 on the helmets.
If you want to see these jerseys in person, The Red Wings will wear them for more than a dozen home games, beginning with their season opener on October 9.
I love how much of the team's history was able to be put into this jersey.
If you want to buy one you can pick one up at Little Caesars Arena or online.
