Michigan Taco Bell Locations Making Dramatic Change Due To Outbreak

Update 7/20/26: After the CDC seemingly confirmed a link between lettuce sold at Taco Bell and the cyclosporiasis outbreak that is ravaging Michiganders' rear ends, the FDA confirmed that this report was actually a false positive, and Taylor Farm's produce was not contaminated. All lettuce is still being recalled.

It's not far-fetched that you've gotten Taco Bell and soon found yourself on the toilet afterward. Before I'd ever ordered from there, the running joke was about how Taco Bell would, well, give you the runs. That being said, that's never stopped me from getting my beloved Crunch Wrap Supreme.

But your next Crunch Wrap might be missing some ingredients, and it isn't just because you went to the location on Michigan St. A "poop parasite" known as cyclosporiasis is spreading around the country and hitting Michigan the hardest, and out of an abundance of caution, Taco Bell has announced it will be making some temporary menu changes around Michigan.

Taco Bell Linked To Cyclosporiasis?

Over the last week, the word cyclosporiasis has been in the news nonstop. A parasite that causes weeks of "explosive diarrhea" has seen case numbers soar in Michigan, with the CDC reporting nearly 4,000 cases as of today. Lettuce and other salad greens are the leading theory behind the parasite, according to the Michigan Department of Health, but the official source is still unknown.

As a result, Taco Bell has announced it will be removing "lettuce, cilantro, pico de gallo, and guacamole" from its menu in some parts of Michigan, per KTLA 5. It didn't specify which locations, but it appears to be more focused on Detroit, where the outbreak is worse.

In a statement to USA Today, Taco Bell clarified that they were voluntarily removing the items and that health officials hadn't established a link between Taco Bell and the parasite.
