Grand Rapids Snowfall Totals Every Year Since 2000

One of the beautiful things (or annoying, depending on who you ask) about living in Michigan is that we experience all four seasons every year. To me, it helps keep track of my year so that I know what to expect and it's nice having different activities to do depending on the time of year.

However, of all four seasons, there is no doubt that winter is the one that gives people the most problems.

Cold weather, shoveling, and trying to drive when it is icy out are just the tip of the iceberg (see what I did there?) of things that make winter a struggle. Last year saw the second-lowest snowfall totals since 2000, while this year we already have well over 2 feet of snow, and winter has barely begun.

Considering how much snow we've gotten already this season, and the impending threat of a potential major snowstorm in January, there may be something to learn from analyzing the annual snowfall totals of the past couple of years.

According to the NOAA, the winter of 2013-2014 saw the most snowfall at 116 inches, with January experiencing 41.9 inches. Meanwhile, the winters of 2020-2021 and 2023-2024 had 46.1 and 47.5 inches, respectively. But these are the overall totals since 2000 in Grand Rapids.
