Find Out Which Michigan Lawmakers Minnesota Gunman Allegedly Targeted

A Minnesota man allegedly killed a former House Speaker, wounded a senator, and had a hit list targeting 45 politicians, including seven from Michigan.

I was at a music festival over the weekend, and since there were about 25,000 attending each day, fighting for some internet, I was unplugged from the outside world. When I got home at 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning, and finally had an internet signal, I was shocked to find that some Minnesota politicians had been targets of assassination attempts.

Vance Boelter, 57, allegedly fatally shot former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their Minneapolis home. Police say Boelter also shot Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, multiple times each, but they are still alive and in stable condition at the hospital.

Boelter was captured by police on Sunday when officers located him in the woods near his home. Boelter was part of the largest manhunt in the history of Minnesota.

What is even more disturbing is that Boelter had a hit list of 45 other politicians in other states, and 7 of them were in Michigan.

The Michigan Politicians Who Were on Minnesota Gunman's Hit List

According to WXYZ, Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Rep. Hillary Scholten, Rep. Debbie Dingell, Rep. Shri Thanedar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and Rep. Haley Stevens were on an alleged list of 45 politicians and others to assassinate.

According to investigators, Boelter meticulously planned the attacks, which included surveillance of homes, disguises, and the plans were found in notebooks that took several months for him to compile.

From all of the material that authorities have compiled, no clear motive has been determined, but it is still early in the investigation. Boleter has been charged with federal murder and stalking offenses. He has also been charged in Minnesota with murder and attempted murder.
