Massive Cocaine Bust at Michigan-Canada Crossing
Collaboration of Michigan and Canadian Border Agents
Michigan and Canadian border authorities collaborate closely through joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and cross-border operations. This partnership enables officers to work on both sides of the maritime boundary to intercept contraband, drugs, and human trafficking.
Michigan and Canadian border agents determine who to search using a mix of intelligence-driven targeting, officer observations, random selection, and database alerts. They possess wide legal authority to carry out searches at ports of entry without warrants and, in many cases, without any specific suspicion.
